Cyril Le Marquand House

12,000 m2 Modern and sustainable hub for the Government of Jersey

Key Facts

Cyril Le Marquand House is a new landmark, 7-storey headquarters office development for the Government of Jersey.  Located in St Helier adjacent to Parade Gardens, the development provides versatile office and public service spaces. Complemented by public realm enhancements and public artwork

The 7-storey composite steel framed building utilizes profiled metal decking with 150mm in-situ concrete floor slabs spanning between composite steel beams. A single storey basement less than 200m² in area and 3m in height solely for plant and services is also provided beneath the building footprint.
Lateral stability of the building is to be provided predominantly by a multiple braced frames with steel ‘X’ or ‘V’ bracing in both orthogonal directions.
Bracing in the lateral direction are in the core areas. Perimeter bracing and moment frames are also provided on sections of the building perimeter.

The continuous RC floor slab at each floor level will transfer horizontal perimeter loads to the braced bay by diaphragm action in the slab. To minimise the groundworks and disruption locally, reuse of the existing foundations were utilized wherever possible. The existing piled raft was assessed and sheet piles reused for the basement.
